F5 AI Data Fabric¶
Overview¶
AIDF makes F5 Insight even smarter by automatically identifying your application and scoring their security. It uses AI to study your network traffic and security rules, so you can quickly see which apps are at risk and take action.
Benefits and Key Features¶
- Automatic Application Identification - Discover and classify applications supported by your BIG-IP infrastructure without manual tagging or configuration - saving BIG-IP operators time and potential errors during reporting workflows, optimization work, or troubleshooting.
- Security Score Cards - Receive per-application risk scores to prioritize security efforts and identify vulnerable or high-risk applications. Our scoring engine considers:
- Current CVE vulnerabilities
- Latest threat intelligence (including OWASP Top 10)
- Common security weaknesses and misconfigurations
- Foundational Intelligence - AIDF provides the data foundation for additional F5 Insight capabilities and future enhancements.
Prerequisites¶
Before enabling AIDF, ensure:
- Network Connectivity - Ensure F5 Insight has outbound connectivity to the AIDF service and that firewall rules permit both inbound and outbound traffic.
Configuration Steps¶
- In the left toolbar, navigate to the Manage section
- Select AIDF
- Click Enable AIDF
- Enter your sensor credentials:
- The system requires the following:
- Endpoint - The AIDF service endpoint URL
- Sensor ID - Unique identifier for this F5 Insight instance
- Sensor Token - Authentication token for AIDF communication
Note
Reach out to your sales account team to obtain these three credentials.
- Test your connection.
- Save your configuration.
Once enabled, AIDF begins analyzing traffic data collected by F5 Insight to recognize common patterns, identify applications, and calculate and publish security scores. Results will appear in the application inventory and security dashboards as data is processed.
