Prepare your computer

Introduction

To use the clean installation or upgrade instructions, configure your computer (the client system from which you perform the installation or upgrade) and create an F5 BIG-IP Cloud-Native Edition directory if one doesn’t already exist.

Prepare your computer

  1. Make sure your computer is running Linux.

  2. Make sure you’ve installed the following tools:

    • curl

    • Helm 3.8.0 through 3.20.x

      Note

      • See the release notes for the recommended Helm version.

      • The f5-cert-manager chart in F5 BIG-IP Cloud-Native Edition isn’t currently compatible with Helm 4.0 or later.

    • jq

    • kubectl

    • make

    • openssl

    • python3

    • yq v4.43.1 or later

  3. In a terminal window on your computer, create an F5 BIG-IP Cloud-Native Edition directory (for example, f5-big-ip-cne) if you don’t already have one and change to that directory.
