Upgrade SPK from v1.7.11 to v1.7.12

SPK version 1.7.12 contains an updated version of the Cert manager, Rabbitmq, CWC, Toda Fluentd, and F5ingress pod. To successfully move from SPK v1.7.11 to v1.7.12, please follow the steps below.

_images/spk_warn.png Important: The Helm Upgrade is not supported. Therefore, the recommended method to upgrade SPK v1.7.11 to v1.7.12 is to uninstall and install the necessary pods.

Procedure

Use the steps below to upgrade the SPK from v1.7.11 to v1.7.12. Remove and then reinstall all the global components and spk product specific components in the specified order below:

Uninstall the global components and spk product specific components

  1. Uninstall the f5ingress helm chart.

    In this example, the f5ingress helm chart is installed in the spk-utils Project.

    helm uninstall f5ingress -n spk-utils

  2. Uninstall the Toda Fluentd helm chart.

    In this example, the Toda Fluentd helm chart is installed in the f5-utils Project.

    helm uninstall f5-toda-fluentd -n spk-utils

  3. Uninstall the CWC helm chart.

    In this example, the CWC helm chart is installed in the spk-global-components Project.

    helm uninstall cwc -n spk-global-components

  4. Uninstall the RabbitMQ helm chart.

    In this example, the rabbtimq helm chart is installed in the spk-global-components Project.

    helm uninstall rabbtimq  -n spk-global-components

  5. Uninstall the Cert Manager helm chart.

    In this example, the f5-certificate-manager helm chart is installed in the spk-global-components Project.

    helm uninstall f5-certificate-manager  -n spk-global-components

Reinstall the global components and spk product specific components

  1. Reinstall the Cert Manager using the new certificate-manager helm chart version mentioned in the SPK v1.7.12. tarball.

    In this example, the new version of certificate-manager helm chart is 0.5.12-0.0.4

    helm install f5-certificate-manager tar/f5-cert-manager-0.5.12-0.0.4.tgz --namespace spk-global-components -f cm_overrides_1.7.12.yaml

  2. Reinstall the RabbitMQ using the new rabbitmq helm chart version mentioned in the SPK v1.7.12. tarball.

    In this example, the new version of rabbitmq helm chart is 2.0.7

    helm install rabbitmq tar/rabbitmq-2.0.7.tgz --namespace spk-global-components -f rmq_overrides_1.7.12.yaml --set cert-orchestrator.enabled=true

  3. Reinstall the CWC using the new cwc helm chart version mentioned in the SPK v1.7.12. tarball.

    In this example, the new version of CWC helm chart is 2.0.20

    helm install cwc tar/cwc-2.0.20.tgz -n spk-global--set rabbitmqNamespace=spk-global-components -f cwc_overrides_1.7.12.yaml

  4. Reinstall the Toda Fluentd using the new toda-fluentd helm chart version mentioned in the SPK v1.7.12. tarball.

    In this example, the new version of Fluentd helm chart is 3.0.26

    helm install f5-toda-fluentd tar/f5-toda-fluentd-3.0.26.tgz --namespace spk-utils -f toda_1.7.12.yaml

  5. Reinstall the f5ingress using the new f5ingress helm chart version mentioned in the SPK v1.7.12 tarball.

    In this example, the new version of f5ingress helm chart is 10.0.140

    helm install f5ingress tar/f5ingress-10.0.140.tgz --namespace spk-utils -f f5ingress_1.7.12.yaml
