Data Center Orchestration

F5 Networks Data Center Orchestration (DCO) is a set of tools that helps administrators and developers manage and automate their data centers. It gathers data center management, monitoring, and control features into a unified interface. You access DCO features through a set of application programming interfaces (APIs) that use a device and feature object model.

Health Model

The DCO health model describes from a DCO perspective, how the devices and objects that form your network relate to one another. Understanding the hierarchical structure of these relationships provides key insight into the workings of the DCO tool set.

  • DCO Health Model provides a graphic representation of the health model and links to detailed information on each object in the DCO health model hierarchy.

Enterprise Manager: “Single Management Point”

The F5 Enterprise Manager serves as DCO’s single point of management. DCO features, such as device inventory, device access via a proxy, single-authentication-point, and performance data aggregation, are all available through Enterprise Manager.

Features

Device Inventory: Enterprise Manager maintains an inventory of devices that you can manage, monitor, and orchestrate. Using DCO APIs, you can add, remove, or query this inventory of BIG-IP devices.

iControl Proxy: Enterprise Manager uses iControls to provide a proxy interface to BIG-IP devices. Use this proxy to query and make changes to a device and it’s configuration objects via a single authentication and auditing point.
