System authentication

Overview

When you first install F5 Insight or upgrade from a version prior to 2.0.0, the system configures one System admin account. This account can use the UI and API. It has root-level privileges, so treat it as a root account.

Important

Use the System admin account only for system-level tasks. Currently, only this account can transfer files with SCP or use SSH or the serial console for break/fix and troubleshooting.

For routine UI and API access, use Local or External authentication. Assign each user the least-privileged role that supports their tasks.
