Application MigrationΒΆ

The application migration solution facilitates the migration of BIG-IP configurations from version 12.1 or later to BIG-IP Next Central Manager as an AS3 application service.

Follow the steps to initiate the application migration:

  1. Log in to the BIG-IP Next Central Manager. Navigate to the Go to Application Workspace > My Application Services path.

  2. On the My Application Services page, click the Add Application option.

  3. On the Add Application page, under the Migrate Application(s) section, click the New Migration option. This function helps the administrator migrate a BIG-IP user configuration set (UCS) to BIG-IP Next instances.

  4. On the New Application Migration page, click the General Properties tab and add the name of the session in the Session Name field.

  5. Click Next.

  6. On the Source BIG-IP System tab, upload the UCS file which is a backup of the BIG-IP system.

  7. Enable the Master Key value. To obtain the master Key, open the terminal and run the f5mku -K (bash prompt) command.

  8. In case of the UCS file is encrypted, enable the Encrypted UCS Archive and enter the password.

  9. Under the How would you like to group your Application Services? section, select the required method to group your application services. Available options are Group by IP Addresses (Recommended) and Group by Virtual Server.

  10. Click Next. The UCS file is uploaded. This process might take a few minutes.

  11. On the Application Migration tab, click the Add Application option. A list of application services or virtual servers appears. click Analyze to view all the access policies available.

  12. Select the required application service or virtual server to import.

  13. Click Add. A service name is added to the application migration page.

  14. Click Next.

  15. On the Pre Deployment page, under the Application Services for Pre Deployment page, click the Import option for the required application services from the list.

  16. Click Deploy. The Deployments page appears where the administrator can check the status of the deployments.

  17. Click Finish. A new application is created on the My Application Services page.

  18. Navigate to the Security > Access > Policies path.

  19. Identify the required access policy created. Ensure the required agents (flows and rules) are added to the policy and close the page.

  20. Navigate to the Go to Application Workspace > My Application Services path. Click the required application name from the list of application services. The respective application page appears.

  21. On the Declaration tab, click the Review & Deploy option.

  22. On the Deploy page, Under the Deploy to section, click the Start Adding option and select the required BIG-IP Next instance or location from the list.

  23. Click the Add to List option. The application migration process is completed.
